WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE

A NON-CHEMICAL APPROCH TO STRESS AND PAIN RELIEF

Acupuncture is one of the oldest medical treatments in existence, dating back to China more than 2,500 years ago. Its philosophy is rooted in Taoism, which promotes harmony between living beings and the world around them, and a balance between yin and yang. Ancient Chinese believed that there is a universal life energy called Qi (pronounced chee) in every living creature. This energy circulates throughout the body along pathways known as meridians. As long as this energy flows freely throughout the meridians, health is maintained, but once the flow of energy is blocked, the system is disrupted and pain or illness can result.

During an Acupuncture treatment very thin sterial needles are placed in specific areas around the body in order to direct the flow of Qi and create balance throughout the meridian system. The needles are retained for approximately 30 minutes while you rest comfortably.

Acupuncture is used for a variety of medical conditions including but not limited to the following.
